Police Still Looking For Suspect In Hit-and-run Death

January 5, 2006

A search is still underway for the driver of a red vehicle that struck a 16-year old girl and killed her on August 29th.

Beonka Walters was headed north in the 2300 block of Waco at the Waco Street Bridge around 5:00 p.m. when a car struck her and sent her over the bridge railing.

Immediately following the accident, the car then hit a Fed-Ex big-rig and was stuck under it for a short time.

The driver of the car then reversed his car from under the truck and left the scene.

Authorities found pieces at the scene that they believe belongs to a 2003-5 Mazda 6, which could be a sedan or a hatchback.

Doctors tried to help Beonka but she was pronounced dead on September 6th.
