Several accidents have occurred recently at area railroad crossings near Dallas. Saturday morning, two people were seriously injured at a crossing in Tioga, where barriers are not in place. A train collided with their pick-up when it was on the tracks.
A simlar accident happened at the very same crossing less than a month ago. The sites are marked with crossing signs but folks say it's not enough.
On January 20, a Union Pacific train rammed into a pick-up truck at the Gene Autry and Highway 377 intersection. The truck rolled several times, sending it's driver flying through the air.
Saturday, another train hit another pick-up at the rail crossing. Local residents say drivers need a bigger notice to avoid similar crashes.
Two more accidents involving trains with trucks or cars have taken place since 2004. Tioga police say drivers need to be more aware of the crossings since warning signs flag each intersection.
The accident victims in Saturday's crash are recovering tonight in a Dallas area hospital. Officials say the accident was not the conductors fault, the car was on the tracks. No one on the train was injured.
