An investigation by city officials is officially declaring that the electrocution of a pastor during a baptism was an accident.
The baptism was taking place at the University Baptist Church on October 30th. The pastor, Rev. Kyle Lake, 33, was pronounced dead that day from injuries sustained due to electrocution.
According to witnesses, the accident was caused because Lake had grabbed a microphone while standing in water. Others claim that a piece of equipment had fallen into the water.
The woman who was to receive the baptism did not suffer any injuries.
The investigation was carried out by the Police Department's special crimes unit as well as the city's inspection services, according to a spokesman for the city of Waco.
There was also going to be another investigation started by an independent agency which will examine the exact cause of the electrocution.
